REV. FR.EMMANUEL ALAO: THANK YOU…!!!

By: Michael Anakwe

Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Alao, a Priest of many beautiful colours, has gone back to his diocese in Ekiti State but has left us with nostalgia and memories that will last forever. In life, only very few people leave such footprints and are mostly referred to as legends, leaders and patrons. This is not a personal tribute to a friend, mentor and priest, rather, and I know for certain, that I am re-echoing the thoughts of many parishioners, especially those whom have crossed path with him and the majority that has listened to his sermon.

I started by describing Fr. as a priest with many beautiful colours that is because to many of us he has touched our lives differently and positively. He served the Christ the King Catholic Parish Kubwa as an Associate Parish Priest for more than two years with distinction and dedication that was second to none. He was the spiritual director of several state organizations, pious societies, special /ad hoc committees, families and individuals in our parish. For us in the Communication and Media department of the parish, he was our morale booster and support. Aside been a regular contributor in our monthly parish publication, he is that listening ear, that spiritual director and adviser that coaches us on how to promote the goodnews within the parish and beyond. The youth and Children in our parish will certainly feel a momentarily vacuum of friendship. Yours sincerely is a witness to the camaraderie that exists between Fr. and our young parishioners, he is, in fact, the darling of the Altar Servers.  It is always hard to say goodbye to such a priest, especially if the person has made unforgettable memories in our mind.

I know, among many other things, we would remember Fr. Alao, as the singing priest of our parish, we hear him chants the gospel in every solemn Mass that he celebrates where he also dramatically chants the consecration prayers which makes it more solemn and unique; and oftentimes during his homily, he beautifully sings a meaningful song that helps elucidates his sermon of the day. Singing also is one of his hobbies and that was why he launched a musical album during his 10th year anniversary as a priest of the Roman Catholic Church. He will also be remembered as that priest that attends weddings, birthdays, child presentation banquets, sick calls and home visitation to parishioners invited or otherwise. He sees our joys and sorrows as his personal responsibility to share with us. Lest, I forget, his sense of humour that cheers up everyone in Mass or even in any gathering will never be forgotten. Indeed, Fr. Alao, through his goodwill and stewardship, has imprinted an indelible mark in many hearts and in the parish as a whole.

Dear Fr, I do not have this mandate but I am convulsed by emotion to say that on behalf of the parishioners of CKC Kubwa parish, I extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you, for your years of friendship and joyful service to the parishioners. As you continue your service in the Lord’s vineyard at Ekiti Diocese, May God continue to strengthen you, bless your love for Him and reward you for being a faithful servant of God. May you always have songs of praise in your lips. Amen

Let me assure you that we would treasure the spiritual care and guidance you have shared with us. And I would like you to do us a favour: please take with you only the good memories and beautiful experiences you have in this parish. Thank you very much Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Alao and we wish you all the best in your future mission as a priest of God.
